This easy 3 minute Shawarma Sauce is made with yogurt, tahini, and lemon. It's a delicious white garlic sauce that you'll want to use on everything! Serve with shawarma, sandwiches, grain bowls, or use as a dip. Gluten Free, Vegan option.
Mix: In a small bowl, combine½ cup plain Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 clove garlic, 4 teaspoons tahini, and 4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice. Whisk until smooth. Add salt to taste.
Notes
Vegan option: Choose a vegan plain Greek yogurt and a vegan mayonnaise.
Garlic: In recipe tests, we preferred fresh garlic over garlic powder. Grate the fresh garlic with a microplane (rasp grater) if you can. This will ensure the garlic gets evenly mixed throughout the sauce. Otherwise, mince as fine as possible with a knife. If you want a milder garlic flavor, swap the fresh garlic with garlic powder. Add garlic powder in small increments to taste.
Storage tips: Cover and refrigerate for up to 4 days.
Serving suggestions: Use this Shawarma Sauce for shawarma, falafel, potatoes, grilled veggies, as a dip (for pizza crust, pita chips, fresh veggies), or as a dressing. This recipe makes a spoonable sauce, but if you want it to be runnier, you can thin it with a bit of water.
Yield: Makes 10 tablespoons of sauce. Nutritional estimates assume 2 tablespoons per serving, but use as much or as little as you'd like!
