This refreshing tropical Pineapple Blueberry Smoothie has just 4 ingredients. Super easy to make and always a family favorite. Made without yogurt or milk, so it's dairy-free. Enjoy this fruit smoothie for breakfast or snack. (Vegan, Gluten Free).
Blend: Add 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks, 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1 banana, and 1 cup orange juice to a blender. Blend until smooth. (If needed, you can thin with more juice). Pour into glasses and enjoy.
Notes
Frozen Fruit: This recipe uses frozen pineapple and blueberries, so you don't need ice. You can substitute with fresh pineapple or blueberries if needed. But if using fresh fruit, you'll have to add ½ to 1 cup ice (otherwise your drink won't be cold). Ice dilutes the flavor of the drink, so you may want to use a bit more fresh fruit than the recipe calls for.
Banana: We tested this recipe with room temperature banana. You could substitute frozen banana if you'd like. But it'll make the smoothie thicker, so use a high-speed blender and/or more orange juice to thin, if needed.
Orange Juice: Freshly squeezed orange juice has the best flavor. Otherwise, use a high quality store-bought orange juice (ideally fresh, not from concentrate). Depending on your blender and desired consistency, you may wish to add an extra splash of orange juice to thin.
Optional Garnish Ideas: It's not necessary to garnish this smoothie. But if you do, you could add a piece of fresh pineapple to the glass. Or sprinkle the top with blueberries (frozen or fresh).
