    What are quesadillas?

    A quesadilla is a savory Mexican dish made of tortilla filled with cheese. Sometimes other toppings, like beans, vegetables, or meat are added inside. Quesadillas are a popular street food. They're typically cooked to order on a griddle ("comal") . Corn tortillas are traditionally used. And, it's often a single tortilla folded in half.

    In Mexico City, quesadillas are made a bit differently than other areas in Mexico. Quesadillas aren't always made with cheese in Mexico City. Instead, you need to request it ("con queso").

    Quesadillas are a dish that has been adopted all over the world. There are now countless fillings and flavor combinations used for "quesadillas". In America, quesadillas are often made with flour tortillas instead of corn tortillas.
